Originally from Detroit,
Michigan, Gary attended Abilene Christian University before
moving to Nashville. He became a part of a newly developing
genre of music called Contemporary Christian. History
"buffs" may recall him as a co-founding member of
the pioneering CCM band, Fireworks.
After lending vocal power to Amy
Grant's early albums and tours, Gary chose to make a
career staying closer to home. So studio work afforded him
the opportunity to build a family and yet be in the creative
center of the music industry.
Gary soon became one of the
most sought after jingle singers, eventually leading to a
long stint in Chicago singing radio and television
commercials. Now back in Nashville, he continues to be in
demand both in advertising and the recording industry. If
you've been near a TV or radio in the last twenty years you
have likely heard his voice advertising Keebler Crackers,
Kellogg Cereals, McDonald's Hamburgers and many other
nationally known brand names. On the big screen, Gary played
a backup musician to Patsy Cline in "Sweet Dreams"
starring Jessica Lange, performing both on and off screen.
Relocating to
Nashville to focus on writing songs led Gary to do a project
with a band he co-founded called Foster Kings.
Continuing to write and follow his heart resulted in his
critically acclaimed first solo project, "Like Him." |
